The Key West Sunset Celebration at Mallory Square is known the world over for being a town square to enjoy a diverse collection of street performers, vendors and observe a wonderful Key West Sunset.
Arive a few hrs. previous to sunset and see unique entertainers for example: Will Soto,his high wire and juggling act is a must see ,and has been entertaining in the Sunset Celebration for the better part of 20 years.
Witness The Great Rondini, featuring magic as well as escape stunts culminating with an awesome escape from a strait jacket at the same time as being suspended upside down.
Did you say you want to see more Cats, The Cat Man is still around, together with his increadible act of skilled house cats.People of all ages admire his show and you’ll see his show at the Sunset Celebration during your vacation.
Key West Beaches
You will notice upon visiting the Florida Keys you might be surprised at the limited quantity of beaches.Reasons being,these coral islands were some time ago coral reefs ,when the oceans used to be much deeper.
Together with little wave action by reason of barrier islands as well as coral reefs along with little or no sand to begin with,sandy beaches are a little scarce.
With that being said,there are great opportunities for getting
in some beach time and fantastic inshore SNORKELING !
Here’s my suggestions:
South Beach
South Beach is appropriately named,because it’s the southernmost beach in the U.S.and is adjacent to the Southermost Hotel.
A very nice beach and is a favorite with all the locals and since being situated at the southern end of Duval street can also be alluring to vacationers as well.
The sandiest beach within Key West tucked amid resorts and a concrete wharf. You can rent just about everything used for water sports including snorkels and fins to test-out the waters and the colorful tropical fish round the wharf pilings and little patch reefs.
Smathers Beach
Smathers Beach is on the south shore ,Key Wests largest Beach at 2 miles long.Distributors,concessions ,beachsport rentals are lined-up the length of S.Roosevelt Blvd,so you can at all times have loads of food and drinks .
Snorkelers have zones just offshore for some covienient snorkeling.
Fort Taylor Beach
The beach with the most attraction is located at Fort Zachary Taylor State Park and is said by many for being the best beach in Key West.One of the main reasons is it’s an excellent place to snorkel and witness the magnificent marine life that inhabits Key West.
The beach is adjacent to deep shipping chanels and also the water may be the nicest and freshest of all the Key West beaches.This really is the place to snorkel and witness the large Devil Rays and the huge Tarpon and fish of Key West.
There are picnic tables, shade trees to get out from the sun,and a cafe in the former park ranger house.There’s a small fee to enter ,but if you consider that this is a multi attraction site which has a historic fortress complete with moat,its definately a great value for the money.
